The Rising Voices host programs serving all ages and all abilities


All programs run with two season a year.
Spring/Summer runs for 22 weeks, January - June
Fall/Winter runs for 20 weeks, August - December

The Pittsburgh Liberty Community Choir

Thursdays, 6:00-7:30pm
PGH Mennonite Church

This Community Choir meets weekly, welcoming all with a love of music to sing songs which celebrate civic themes, diversity, and history. Discussion of the themes of songs is central to our rehearsals.



Requirements
A love of music! We welcome newborns to join their parents, seniors, students, and kiddos from all backgrounds and lifestyles.

Performances
PLCC members will join in on the end of season concerts in June and December, along with appearances at universities and community centers to promote civic education, and at demonstrations for civil and human rights across the city.

Dues
PLCC members have 3 options for their membership dues.

  • Pay to Play: best for walk ins and members who may not be able to attend every week. $5 per rehearsal per family, pay at the door
  • Season Pass: $30 for one season of membership per family
  • Annual Pass: $50 for one year of membership per family



The Youth Choir

Mondays and Fridays, 5-6:30
Friendship Presbyterian Church

The Youth Choir serves students interested in furthering their vocal training. This program is intended for students interested in performing and engaging in basic theory and music education.


Requirements
Age 8-18
Can perform the chorus to "This Land is Your Land," "God Bless America," or "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from memory
Can perform a verse and a chorus of a song of their choice from memory.

Children ages 8-10 will either be enrolled in the J.S. program or the Youth Choir, depending on their experience and ability.

Rehearsals
The Rising Voices Youth Choir (RVYC)  rehearses Mondays and Fridays from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Find our Calendar here.

Excepting emergencies, members may miss no more than 4 rehearsals per season.

Performances
The RVYC is a performance focused ensemble, and thus members are expected to attend all performances. Students are allotted to miss 1 performance per season, within reason, and this absence must be approved by the Director.

The RVYC participates in the end of season concerts each June and December. The Youth Choir also makes regular appearances on The Saturday Light Brigade Radio Program and at the Cultural Trust Gallery Crawls. The Youth Choir is also asked to appear for private functions, community events, and festivals throughout the year.

Tuition
Tuition for the RVYC is $100 per season, which includes approximately 60 hours of instruction. Scholarships are available.



The Junior Singers

Fridays, 5-6:30
Friendship Presbyterian Church

The J.S. program serves students interested in pursuing vocal training. This program is intended for our youngest members, alongside children starting their music education.


Requirements
Age 4-10
Can perform either "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" or "Happy Birthday" from memory

All students of the Rising Voices ages 4 - 7 will be enrolled in the J.S. program. Children ages 8+ will either be enrolled in the J.S. program or the Youth Choir, depending on their experience and ability.

Rehearsals
The J.S. program rehearses on Fridays alongside the Youth Choir from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Find our Calendar here.

Members may miss no more than 3 rehearsals per season.

Performances
The Junior Singers perform twice a year for their families in the end of season concerts in June and December.

The Studio

The Studio serves students interested in pursuing private instruction in Voice, Piano, Djembe, or Guitar.
